Papers to note C 5143 5143 Carolyn Thomas https://business.senedd.wales/mgUserInfo.aspx?UID=5143 Thomas, Carolyn Just regarding item 2.13, the UK emissions trading scheme, the attached document is a letter from the Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs to the Chair in relation to the UK ETS authority consultation on regulating cross-boundary carbon capture and storage pipelines. I will respond to this individually. I just want to have clarification that this will be coming back to the next Senedd. I still have concerns that capturing carbon dioxide is still innovative. I know the Health and Safety Executive said that the behaviour of carbon dioxide in its purest form is still relatively unknown. My concern is whether there will be proper planning consultation with residents and local authorities and that it is not just rushed through by the industry. It says the 'consultation is aimed at anyone with an interest in CCS policy in the UK ETS, especially companies who plan to operate CCS pipelines.' I believe that residents should also have an interest in the community that it's going through. Thank you. I just wanted to raise that.
