What is the Welsh Government doing to reduce congestion along the A470 between Abercynon and Cardiff?
I take congestion on the A470 in South Wales very seriously and addressing this is a key element of our decision to invest over £1bn into transforming the Core Valley Lines. That investment combined with our £800m investment in new trains will deliver a massive capacity and frequency increase on the Core Valley Lines delivering 12 trains per hour between Pontypridd and Cardiff alongside 6 trains per hour between Caerphilly and Cardiff. Transport for Wales have already delivered the extremely popular Pay-As-You-Go ticketing which has already seen over 2 million journeys. A single Pay-As-You-Go ticket between Abercynon and Cardiff costs just £3.60, offering fantastic value for money compared to a car journey and parking charges providing a real sustainable alternative to travelling on the A470.
