What consideration has the Welsh Government given to introducing an hourly train service on the Pembroke Dock - Whitland line?
The introduction of an hourly train service on the on the Pembroke Dock – Whitland line has been considered as part of an Outline Business Case for the Swansea Bay and West Wales Metro. This initial development work found that it is likely that enhancements to Network Rail’s infrastructure and additional rolling stock would be required to deliver an hourly service on the full length of the line. Further business case assessment would be required to develop the case further for an hourly service. However, Transport for Wales will be introducing two additional services on the line, between Carmarthen and Tenby, from the timetable change this May.
