Will the Minister outline how the Welsh Government is exploring the potential of artificial intelligence and the role it could play in reducing workload for teachers in Wales?
Artificial intelligence provides opportunities for us to support our practitioners to deliver our key reforms. However, we are taking a cautious approach in how we engage with technology that has much potential, but also carries some risks.
We are actively working with international partners and teachers and leaders in Wales to engage with artificial intelligence constructively and safely. This will enable us to explore the key opportunities and challenges in the use of artificial intelligence in education, drawing on expertise and emerging practice to consider how to maximise the opportunities. For example in its use to enhance curriculum design, pedagogical innovation and to reduce teacher workload.
We will seek to minimise the risks of this technology and determine the right support, guidance and professional learning for practitioners to engage positively with it.
