Does the Minister expect Qualifications Wales to introduce one qualification to assess the Welsh continuum of learning in the proposed new curriculum?

Answered by Minister for Education | Answered on 21/01/2021

Qualifications Wales is currently delivering a long-term programme of work to scope and develop qualifications for the Curriculum for Wales. Between November 2019 and February 2020, Qualifications Wales consulted on the high-level principles that would underpin the future qualifications offer for 16 year-olds in Wales. The second phase of this consultation will focus on the future range of qualifications that should form the publicly funded qualifications offer – this will include proposals for Welsh language qualifications. This consultation will be published next week and will seek to gather an extensive range of views to ensure that the qualifications align with the Curriculum for Wales and support our ambition for our learners.
