WAQ79340 (e) Tabled on 16/01/2020

Further to WAQ79247 and the requirement for Estyn inspectors to report on whether financial resources are managed efficiently, will the Minister clarify whether any measures are in place to ensure that inspectors take reasonable account of the budgetary pressures that schools have to manage?

Answered by Minister for Education | Answered on 22/01/2020

In considering how effectively a school manages resources, inspectors consider how well leaders and managers act in accordance with the principle of sustainable development when they make decisions. Inspectors consider how well the school balances immediate, short-term needs with the long-term needs of pupils, the local community and Wales.

Estyn is an independent body and, as such, Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education and Training in Wales is responsible for Estyn’s Common Inspection Framework. Queries about inspections, should be addressed to the Chief Inspector for consideration.
