Will the Minister state how many Basic Payment Scheme payments have been made since the payment window opened on 1 December 2019, and how many are outstanding?
13,212 Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) payments have been made since the payment window opened which equates to over 84% of eligible claims. 2,424 claims remain outstanding.
I took the decision to implement a 2019 BPS Support Scheme to provide some certainty and help farm businesses manage their cash flow whilst their BPS claims are being processed. As a result over 95% of farm businesses have received either their full BPS payment or a BPS Support Scheme payment of 90% of their estimated BPS claim value. A total of £220.6m has been paid into the bank accounts of over 14,900 Welsh farm businesses since 2 December 2019.
