Will the Minister consider making it a legal requirement for planning authorities to include all residents living in the postcode area of a submitted planning application as statutory consultees?

Answered by Deputy Minister for Housing and Local Government | Answered on 30/01/2020

The publicity provisions of the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) (Wales) Order 2012 require different methods and levels of publicity depending on the size and significance of the development proposals. The aim is to bring the planning application to the attention of local residents in the wider area as the development proposals become larger or more significant. The extent of a postcode area will not always represent the area of planning impacts. The existing arrangements allow local planning authorities to use their discretion to identify the extent of potential impacts and associate need for publicity.
