Will the Minister state what financial support will be given to help local authorities fulfil their duty to provide accommodation for vulnerable people who become intentionally homeless?

Answered by Minister for Housing and Local Government | Answered on 23/12/2019

The prevention of homelessness remains a priority for the Welsh Government, demonstrated by the investment of additional funding of over £20m this year alone to prevent and relieve homelessness. This funding supports a range of statutory and non-statutory services to help those who do not have a secure place to live.

In respect of potential additional burdens placed on local authorities as a result of the commencement of section 75(3) of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014, this was factored into the initial three year transitional funding award that was made available to local authorities following commencement of the legislation in 2015. This funding was enhanced and incorporated into the Revenue Support Grant from 2018/19.
