What steps are the Welsh Government taking to help improve awareness of ageism, and what measures have been taken to reduce incidents associated with this during 2019/20?
Since its inception in 2003, the Strategy for Older People has challenged stereotypical notions that link ageing to vulnerability and decline. We continue to challenge ageism and promote positive ageing via our work to co produce a Strategy for an Ageing Society and the delivery of our commitments to make rights real for older people. Welsh Government also funds the Older People’s Commissioner to be an independent voice and champion for older people across Wales. The Commissioner’s #EverydayAgeism campaign seeks to raise awareness of the scale and impact of ageism faced by older people and we look forward to acting on the learning from this campaign.
