OPIN-2025-0489 Encouraging the Availability and Use of Naloxone

This Senedd:
1. Recognises the growing problem of opioid deaths in Wales, particularly in relation to availability of powerful, synthetic alternatives to heroin.
2. Notes that Naloxone has saved the lives of many people who have overdosed on opioids, as highlighted in the Salvation Army’s Naloxone Report and by Newport-based drugs charity Kaleidoscope.
3. Calls on the Welsh Government to make Naloxone more available, especially to anyone leaving a healthcare or prison setting with a support need for opioids.
4. Requests a Welsh Government public awareness campaign to make more people aware of Naloxone’s life-saving potential and how it’s administered.
