OPIN-2023-0347 Coeliac Awareness Week (e) Tabled on 19/05/2023

This Senedd:
1. Notes that coeliac disease is a serious autoimmune condition affecting 1 in 100 people.
2. Recognises that two thirds of those with the condition in Wales, roughly 20,000 people, have yet to receive a diagnosis and that the average time for a diagnosis for an adult is 13 years.
3. Welcomes the launch of Coeliac UK's Awareness Week campaign (15-21 May) 'Coeliac Disease is Different for Everyone' which aims to draw attention to unexplained, often debilitating symptoms of the condition.
4. Encourages the Welsh Government to commit to developing a coeliac pathway to support better diagnosis and treatment.
