National Assembly for Wales

This Senedd:

1. Notes:

(a) 2022 marks the Plutonium Jubilee, 70th anniversary, of the UK's first atomic bomb;

(b) people associated with the atomic/nuclear tests, many from Wales, are more likely to die from cancer, suffer miscarriages and their children to have birth defects.

2. Believes that veterans of these nuclear blasts, including descendants and indigenous people, have been mistreated by successive governments.

3. Supports calls for:

(a) a national apology;

(b) a medal to recognise the service/sacrifice of these veterans;

(c) financial support for veterans/families;

(d) an education programme on the tests and their impact;

(e) research for descendants.
