OPIN-2022-0278 Stop food waste day (e) Tabled on 27/04/2022

To propose that the Senedd:
1. Recognises stop food waste day, celebrated on April 27.
2. Acknowledges the important contribution of stop food waste day partners, including Compass Cymru, in implementing sustainable practices and working to drive change.
3. Notes the need to tackle food waste as part of an ambitious wider plan to meet Wales’s climate change targets, and to protect the environment.
4. Calls on the Welsh Government to work constructively with food retailers, producers and public bodies to reduce food waste produced in Wales, including preventing the destruction of unsold, useable food that is safe for consumption.
