National Assembly for Wales

This Senedd:

1. Notes that betting shops have been permitted to reopen in Wales although they are not retail or essential services.

2. Recognises the challenge of maintaining social distancing due to the practice of “dwelling” for a long-time by customers to watch the televisions and use gaming machines.

3. Notes that guidance has not been issued to promote the safe operation of betting shops in Wales.

4. Calls on the Welsh Government to:

a) urgently review whether betting shops should remain open; and

b) issue urgent guidance to restrict the use of televisions and fixed odds betting machines during the pandemic.
