National Assembly for Wales

This Senedd:

a) notes Carers Week 2020 (June 8–14);

b) recognises the importance of unpaid carers and values their work;

c) acknowledges many unpaid carers are caring behind closed doors and taking additional caring responsibilities during the pandemic;

d) welcomes additional payments to care staff by Welsh Government but believes they should make increased pay permanent;

e) believes any one-off payment should be available to all staff working in a care home setting, including cleaning and catering staff who put their own safety at risk daily when they go to work;

f) expresses disappointment that UK Treasury intends to tax Welsh Government’s proposed £500 bonus.
