What discussions has the Welsh Government had with bus operators and local authorities to ensure children and low income families are not disadvantaged by planned cashless bus services across Wales?

The Welsh Government has no plans to introduce cashless bus services when franchising is rolled out. We are committed to expanding tap on, tap off across public transport to enhance passenger journey experiences. However, we also recognise the importance of maintaining cash-based options for those that want and need them.

What steps will the Government take to address the pressures on local government finances?

We recognise the financial pressures faced by local government, which is why I am proud that we secured an additional £112.8 million for local government in the 2026-27 budget. This meant every authority receiving an increase of at least 4 per cent. We will consider future funding as part of the 2027-28 budget process.
