How is the Welsh Government supporting general practice services?

As a result of the 2024-25 General Medical Services contract agreement, we have invested £52.1 million in GP services this year. This is the single biggest annual investment since the pandemic and includes £23 million to support practice stabilisation. In the year ahead, we will work with the GP profession on opportunities for GPs to deliver an extended range of services in the community.

What steps is the Welsh Government taking to improve health outcomes for residents in South Wales East?

Improving access to health care and reducing waiting times is a priority for this Government. We have recently allocated just over £57.5m in recognition of financial pressures and to reduce waiting times in the current year, to Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to deliver safe and timely access to their residents.

What is the Welsh Government doing to support the economy in Brecon and Radnorshire?

We are actively working with our regional partners to maximise economic opportunities for the region through the delivery of the Mid Wales Growth Deal. The collaboratively produced Regional Economic Framework for Mid Wales sets out our shared priorities for the region.

What is the Welsh Government doing to support the tourism industry in Preseli Pembrokeshire?

The tourism industry in Preseli is supported through Visit Wales’ marketing and promotional activities. Other support provided includes grading activities, developing skills across the sector, and a capital investment programme. We have introduced a Bill proposing a visitor levy which could generate additional income to support tourism to grow sustainably.

How is the Welsh Government working with the UK Government to support the transition at Tata Steel in Port Talbot?

The First Minister and I have engaged regularly with the UK Government on matters relating to Tata Steel UK’s transition plans.

Working with the Tata UK Transition Board we will continue to do all we can to support the people and businesses affected in Port Talbot and the wider community.

Will the Cabinet Secretary make a statement on the Welsh Government's progress in developing an economic development plan for the Heads of the Valleys?

I have asked officials to prepare options for closer collaboration opportunities with our key partners to maximise the economic benefits for the Heads of the Valleys and jointly capitalise on the improved connectivity that the A465 enhancement offers.
