Questions For - Cabinet Secretary for Education
How is the Welsh Government supporting learners in schools to learn modern languages?
We have a clear strategy to support international language learning set out in our 'Global Futures' 2022-2025 plan. The plan outlines how we and our Global Futures partners will continue to support our schools. I recently agreed to extend this plan for a further year.
How is the Welsh Government supporting the education workforce?
To boost school standards, our education workforce must be fully supported. We fund a range of professional learning for all practitioners including induction for new teachers, continuous professional learning opportunities for teachers and support staff and a pathway to support teachers on their journey to senior leadership and headship.
How is the Welsh Government supporting the educational needs of pupils with additional learning needs in Montgomeryshire?
The Welsh Government is working closely with Powys County Council to enable them to support learners with additional learning needs and deliver on their statutory responsibilities within the ALN legislative framework. This includes significantly increased ALN funding, termly meetings to discuss delivery, and sharing information, guidance and effective practice.
What assessment has the Welsh Government made of access to higher and further education in rural communities?
Working together with Medr and other partners, we support and promote a range of measures to ensure opportunities are available for all who wish to do so to access further learning, whatever route they choose to take and irrespective of their background.
Questions For - Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government
How is the Welsh Government responding to the Bevan Foundation's recent report 'Regenerating communities: affordable homes from unused faith-owned space'?
I welcome the report from the Bevan Foundation and Housing Justice Cymru and will consider its findings. We continue to work with Housing Justice Cymru and Cwmpas, along with partners across the sector, to realise the potential of land and buildings across Wales.
Will the Cabinet Secretary provide an update on the Welsh Government's progress towards its new homes target?
So far, this Senedd term we have delivered nearly 9,000 more homes for rent in the social sector with some of the highest levels of delivery since records began in 2007-08.
