In light of the recommendations in the Climate Change, Environment and Rural Affairs Committee’s Turning the Tide report, will the Minister outline what site-level actions will be taken to address the 45% of features that are in unfavourable condition and those that are in ‘unknown’ status?

The Marine Protected Area (MPA) Network Management Framework for Wales 2018-2023 sets out how MPAs are managed now, and how they will be managed in the future to improve the condition of the network. The MPA Network Management Action Plan for 2018-2019 details the actions currently being delivered to improve feature condition.

 

We are working with Natural Resources Wales and the Joint Nature Conservation Committee to develop a comprehensive marine biodiversity monitoring programme for Wales. This will build on existing monitoring activities and will improve the marine evidence base.
