Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm the timescale for the rail service on the Cambrian Line returning to a full regular service, reinstating the 07.38 at Newtown and the 21.30 train service departing Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth on Saturdays?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Transport | Answered on 13/12/2018

The 07:38 service from Newtown to Shrewsbury did not run on Saturday 8th December. This was a planned cancellation due to the shortage of available trains, and a replacement bus service ran in lieu of the train service. This is continuing through this week from Monday 10th December and the situation is being reviewed constantly. Transport for Wales intend for a normal service to resume within the next week. However, due to the nature of the weather conditions and the ageing fleet, this ongoing situation is subject to change at short notice.

The 21:43 service from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth ran on Saturday 8th December and is not expected to be affected by planned service alterations going forward.
