When does the Welsh Government anticipate the Additional Learning Needs and Education (Tribunal) Act 2018 will be implemented and when will statementing transition into Individual Development Plans?
The Welsh Government anticipates the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Act 2018 will be implemented, through a mandatory phased approach, between September 2020 and August 2023.
Statements will be converted into individual development plans over a two year period - between September 2020 and August 2022 – with other plans being converted over a three year period – between September 2020 and August 2023.
During implementation, any child or young person newly identified as having additional learning needs will move immediately to the new system.
