Will the Cabinet Secretary make a statement about the availability of the Rezūm system for treating patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia in Wales?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Services | Answered on 28/09/2018

Rezum treatment for enlarged prostate has recently been considered as being appropriate for treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia by NICE. NICE have suggested that for certain patients that this treatment may be considered alongside all other available treatments.

This treatment is not currently available from the NHS in Wales. Health boards in Wales are evaluating the available evidence concerning this treatment and will consider how it compares with existing procedures available from the NHS in Wales.
