What assurances will the Cabinet Secretary provide to those currently in receipt of a concessionary bus pass that they will retain the same concessions following the consultation review?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Transport | Answered on 02/05/2018

The consultation about maintaining free bus travel for older people, disabled people and some injured service veterans ended on 12 January. During the consultation, 456 unique responses were received from passenger groups and individuals. I expect to publish the outcome report shortly.

I can confirm that the policy of the Government is that pass holders currently entitled to free bus travel under the current arrangements will retain their entitlement. Should any proposals to amend the scheme be brought forward, they will be subject to a further public consultation before any changes would be implemented.
