Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm how many CAMHS referrals were made within each LHB for 2017-18, and of these, how many resulted in no further treatment?
Referrals for child and adolescent psychiatry are available by health board and are available from StatsWales. These referrals include CAMHS as well as other services providing diagnosis, treatment and prevention of psychopathological disorders of children and adolescents.
The latest available data (January 2018) shows that for the 12 months from February 2017 to January 2018 the number of GP and non-GP referrals by health board to child and adolescent psychiatry were:
Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board |

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board |

We do not hold data on the number of referrals resulting in no further treatment, however, NHS benchmarking of CAMHS across the UK in 2016 showed around a third of referrals are inappropriate for what is a highly specialist service or do not meet the threshold for a specialist mental health service.
