National Assembly for Wales

This Assembly:

1. Notes that 75 percent of abortions in Wales are medical and require multiple clinical appointments.

2. Is concerned that Misoprostol is prescribed for home-use for incomplete miscarriages, but can only be taken in clinics for medical abortions carried out under 10 weeks of gestation.

3. Notes that under section 1(3A) of the Abortion Act, the Welsh Government can extend the licenced places where Misoprostol may be taken.

4. Believes women should be able to access safe abortion and maternity services as close to home as possible.

5. Calls on the Welsh Government to extend medical abortion locations to include patients’ home addresses.
