OPIN-2019-0140 Fighting for a Fair Start on World Mental Health Day (e) Tabled on 02/10/2019

This Assembly:

1. Notes that up to 1 in 5 mums and 1 in 10 dads in the UK experience perinatal mental health problems, one of the leading causes of maternal deaths in the UK.

2. Is concerned that not everyone gets the right support in Wales.

3. Welcomes NSPCC’s campaign, which aims to ensure equal access to perinatal mental health support for parents, wherever they live.

4. Calls on Welsh Government to increase investment to ensure all health boards deliver specialist services that meet national standards, and that accessible mother and baby unit provision is available in Wales.
