OPIN-2019-0132 World Environment Day 2019 (e) Tabled on 05/06/2019

This Assembly:

1. Recognises World Environment Day on 5th June 2019.

2. Notes that World Environment Day is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment.

3. Recognises that nature is declining globally at rates unprecedented in human history and the rate of species extinctions is accelerating.

4. Notes the loss of species and habitats poses as much a danger to life on earth as climate change does.

5. Recognises the need to implement transformative policies in order to ensure these negative trends do not continue in the future.
