National Assembly for Wales

This Assembly:

1. Notes that 70% of recorded offences of sexual communication with a child in England and Wales in 2017/18 happened on Facebook, Snapchat or Instagram;

2. Is concerned by the effect of online abuse on children and young people’s mental health and well-being;

3. Notes the publication of the UK Government Online Harms White Paper;

4. Calls on the Welsh Government to work with the UK Government to ensure that children in Wales are better protected against abuse;

5. Calls on the Welsh Government to ensure that children who have experienced harm online are able to access support.
