What is the Welsh Government doing to promote the Welsh language internationally?

As I mentioned in my statement yesterday, the Welsh Government is committed to promoting Wales as a bilingual nation, and we are taking advantage of the International Year of Indigenous Languages to give the language a new platform on an international stage.

Will the Minister set out the ethical basis for the Welsh Government's international relations strategy?

The International Strategy will be based upon a clear set of values as outlined in the Well-Being of Future Generations Act. At its heart, it will promote three core themes: Creativity, Sustainability and Technology.

What is the Welsh Government doing to promote mining heritage as a tourist attraction in the south Wales valleys?

The valleys of south east Wales are an excellent example of a landscape and way of life created and shaped to the needs of industry. Wales is enormously proud of its mining heritage and through its capital and revenue grant, Welsh Government continues to support and promote this heritage.

In the course of our budget preparations, I meet all Ministers to discuss spending priorities including infrastructure priorities based on achieving the best value for the investment we make across the whole of Wales.

What consideration did the Welsh Government give to helping people with sensory loss in Wales when allocating funding for the 2019-20 budget?

Within the health and social services portfolio, the Minister and Deputy Minister for Health and Social Services are investing £1.66m over four years through the Sustainable Social Services Third Sector Grant Scheme to support sight and hearing loss organisations.

What discussions has the Minister had with cabinet colleagues on the Welsh Government’s digital strategy?

Since taking an overarching responsibility I have had productive individual discussions with Cabinet colleagues on digital strategy, and the digital work already underway in their portfolios, and look forward to the meeting of the Digital Ministerial Strategy Board next month.
