What action is the Welsh Government taking to improve infrastructure in north Wales?

The national transport finance plan sets out our programme for modernising transport infrastructure. We also continue to engage with interested parties on the Wylfa Newydd project, to invest in coastal defence, and to develop broadband infrastructure. In addition to this, proposals are being evaluated for the north Wales growth deal.

How is the Welsh Government supporting the arts sector in Wales?

The Welsh Government is investing over £30 million per annum in the arts sector through the Arts Council of Wales. We are also joint funding other collaborative programmes such as 'Creative Learning through the Arts' and Anthem, Music Fund Wales.

Will the First Minister make a statement on funding for credit unions?

Credit unions will receive £844,000 over the next two years to support a variety of community projects. An additional £1 million has also been agreed to support credit unions with their growth. This is in recognition of the significant contribution credit unions make to support the financial inclusion of our citizens.

Will the First Minister outline the Welsh Government's plans to fund local government over the coming financial year?

The Cabinet Secretary for Local Government and Public Services will announce the provisional local government settlement later today. This will provide details of the core funding for councils delivered through the revenue support grant. The draft budget published last week outlines other key elements of funding for local authorities.

What discussions has the First Minister had with the UK Government on the steel sector deal?

We have raised with UK Government Ministers and officials the importance of progressing a successful steel sector deal. The deal must recognise the fundamental importance of the sector as an enabler to wider manufacturing supply chains, including automotive, construction and renewables.

What assistance is the Welsh Government offering to Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to prepare for the needs of orthopaedic patients in north Wales during the winter?

The Welsh Government continues to work alongside the health board to develop its orthopaedic and winter plans and to help them understand the demand and capacity required to meet the needs of its population.

Will the First Minister make a statement on provision for parents who have experienced a miscarriage or loss of a baby?

The loss of a baby is devastating for any family. We must ensure that bereavement services are available to provide support and the appropriate environment for families to spend time with their baby. Welsh Government is working with the maternity and neonatal networks, and health boards to ensure standardised practice.
