Will the First Minister make a statement on ways to tackle loneliness and isolation?

The Minister for Children, Older People and Social Care will launch 'A United and Connected Wales', our consultation on tackling loneliness and isolation, on 23 October. It will build on and strengthen what we already do, and also seek new ideas, to unite communities and those who live in them.

How is the Welsh Government encouraging local procurement?

Our policies seek to open up procurement to local suppliers. The outcome of the procurement review will enable us to work with stakeholders to use this expenditure to further grow economic and community wealth across Wales.

Will the First Minister make a statement on cancer services provided by Welsh local health boards?

Cancer services in Wales are working hard to meet significant increases in the number of new cases of cancer and deliver expert, high-quality and compassionate care to people who have received a diagnosis of cancer.

Will the First Minister meet with Preston City Council to understand what lessons the Welsh Government can learn from its approach to community wealth building?

We are keen to learn from best practice and apply lessons from leading exemplars elsewhere. The Preston model is one such example and officials are exploring how to best capture that learning, including the potential for a meeting between the council and the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Transport.

Will the First Minister make a statement on progress in relation to meeting the Welsh Government's target of creating a million Welsh speakers by 2050?

The vision to create 1 million speakers has certainly opened the door to new and wider discussions regarding the language. It is being considered in many new settings. Although we are at the beginning of the journey, the recent capital announcement shows the intention and commitment of the entire Government.

Will the First Minister make a statement on the provision of neonatal services?

We are committed to investing in safe, sustainable neonatal services across Wales, including a brand-new neonatal intensive care unit as part our £350 million investment in the Grange university hospital near Cwmbran, which opens in 2021. We expect health boards to deliver appropriate and safe neonatal services, supported by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee and Wales neonatal network.

Will the First Minister make a statement on the future of funding for agriculture and the countryside following Brexit?

The Welsh Government’s vision for future financial support is set out in our consultation document ‘Brexit and our Land’. A new land management programme, comprising an economic resilience scheme and a public goods scheme, will provide support to enhance the benefits that the people of Wales receive from the land.
