What is the Welsh Government doing to support innovation in the development of temporary accommodation as part of its homelessness strategy?

Welsh Government’s ending homelessness strategy sets out our commitment to reducing reliance on temporary accommodation and moving to a system focused on prevention and rapid rehousing. Our priority is therefore investment in more good-quality permanent homes to support move-on from temporary accommodation, as well as investment in preventative services.

Will the Minister provide an update on what the Welsh Government is doing to help tackle the nature emergency?

Welsh Government is helping to tackle the nature emergency through initiatives such as the Nature Networks and national peatland action programmes that benefit our terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments. We are also strengthening our legislative framework, including introducing statutory biodiversity targets, as set out in our recently published White Paper.

What is the Welsh Government doing to support and promote community ownership of land and assets in Mid and West Wales?

I am committed to supporting the work of community groups but understand the difficulties that many face. That is why I have commissioned a review of community asset ownership to understand the issues and suggest solutions. I am also providing financial support for community-led initiatives, particularly housing.

How is the Welsh Government highlighting the responsibility of land owners to maintain ditches, culverts and watercourses to prevent flooding?

On 7 February I issued a written statement outlining the expectations of riparian owners and highlighting the guidance document produced by Natural Resources Wales. Anyone who owns land or property that either contains or is next to a river, stream or ditch has responsibilities as a riparian landowner.

What plans does the Welsh Government have to improve primary care service provision?

We plan to continue working with health boards and professional bodies to improve primary care in line with the primary care model for Wales. Key action includes the strategic programme for primary care and the reform of the national contracts for general medical services, pharmacy, dentistry and optometry.

Community pharmacies in Mid and West Wales will benefit from the £165.1 million we are making available through the community pharmacy contractual framework, the highest ever level of funding for pharmacies in Wales.

Will the Minister make a statement on the future of dentistry in Wales?

Welsh Government officials are currently involved in tripartite negotiations for the development of a new dental contract. This will embed the prudent healthcare principles set out in the oral health response to 'A Healthier Wales' and will drive the substantive change required to truly reform the provision of NHS dentistry.
