Tabled on 20/09/2018

To propose that the National Assembly for Wales:

1.  Notes that Cardiff is the only council in Wales to introduce a reduced speed limit of 20mph on most of its streets, compared with more than 50 councils in England.

2. Recognises the broad health, safety and environmental benefits of introducing 20mph zones in residential areas, as has been laid out by Public Health Wales.

3. Notes the Proposed Restricted Roads (20mph Limit) (Scotland) Bill which aims to make it easier for councils to reduce 30mph areas to a 20mph limit.

4. Calls on the Welsh Government to introduce legislation so that a 20mph speed limit becomes the standard speed limit in Welsh residential areas.
